Rural housing
Rural areas are some of the least affordable places to live in the country with waiting lists for social housing reaching record levels. We are continuing to address local housing need through the provision of new affordable homes in rural locations.
Having previously delivered 23 flats for affordable rent in Wesham, New Fylde Housing has purchased a further six two-bedroom houses on the private sector development and a further eight three-bedroom homes for local families in Weeton.
The provision of affordable housing within communities is crucial to their sustainability. We have excellent relationships with builders and property developers enabling us to acquire affordable homes for rent within mixed tenure communities. Last year, the Development team was instrumental in providing a large number of affordable homes under Section 106 planning arrangements on behalf of New Progress Housing Association and New Fylde Housing. In addition, the team is working closely with Lancashire County Council in delivering an extra care scheme in Caton.
