Our innovative approach to dealing with anti-social behaviour promptly and effectively has continued to make our streets safer through legal action against perpetrators, an enhanced witness protection programme and effective partnership working.
We want residents to live peacefully in our communities so we work tirelessly to not only tackle ASB when it does happen but to prevent it from happening in the first place. By ensuring that individuals understand the impact of their behaviour on the community it is possible to achieve long-term change, so we offer perpetrators the necessary support for them to change their behaviour. We also support an extensive range of diversionary activities and community groups to give young people activities they can easily access and which are appropriate for their age and needs. We have continued to deliver our educational programme in schools to encourage young people to play a positive role in the community.
Evidence shows that when people feel informed about action being taken to tackle anti-social behaviour they have significantly more confidence in their housing association or local police than those who do not. This leads to an increase in the number of reports of anti-social behaviour and ultimately in higher levels of tenant satisfaction.
We take action to name and shame nuisance tenants by distributing flyers that identify perpetrators and the details of any legal action imposed. We pride ourselves on our successful partnerships with local councils, government agencies, charities, developers, support agencies and community groups to create safer neighbourhoods.
We have a proven track record of achieving our shared objectives through effective partnership working. New Progress Housing Association’s Tenancy Enforcement team was awarded a commendation by Lancashire Constabulary in recognition of its exceptional commitment to community safety. This highly acclaimed award further enhances our reputation as a leader in the field and reinforces our position as key player in improving community safety.
