Worklessness
Housing associations are making a major contribution to tackling worklessness amongst their residents and in the wider communities in which they work.
We think that as an organisation, we can support individuals in employment by providing long term, affordable housing and access to welfare rights advice. We can also help tackle the greater social barriers some of our tenants face in obtaining and sustaining employment. We are undertaking a number of initiatives to support our tenants back into work including providing:
- Apprenticeships
- Housing management trainee positions
- Training and support to tenants to develop a wide range of skills, such as youth work qualifications
- A comprehensive welfare rights service
- Specialist support to lone parents entering the job market for the first time or returning to it after a break
