Environment
We aim to enhance everyone’s enjoyment of the environment by promoting sustainable communities and improving community cohesion, together with making every effort to improve and protect our environment for ourselves and future generations.
Our three main areas of focus are:
- The built in environment - the provision of energy efficient homes in neighbourhoods which are attractive places to live whilst enhancing sustainability and promoting civic pride.
- The social environment – ensuring everyone in our neighbourhoods feel safe and secure, together with understanding the responsibility that they have for their neighbours, other tenants and the environment at large.
- The ecological environment –recognising that our day to day operations will inevitably impact on the environment and seeking to minimise the potential harmful effects of our activities wherever and whenever possible.
Our pledge:
- Meet and, where appropriate, exceed the requirements of all relevant legislation.
- Promote recycling and the use of recycled materials whilst reducing consumption in materials, wherever possible.
- Minimise waste and reduce consumption in all of our operations.
- Work with Progress Housing Group’s suppliers to minimise the impact of their operations on the environment.
- Enhance the built environment and open spaces, whilst respecting wild life, flora and fauna.
- Include environmental issues in our staff training programmes and encourage the implementation by all Progress Housing Group staff in sound environmental practices.
- Support and encourage our tenants and other stakeholders to adopt sound environmental practices and standards.
