We have recently updated our pets policy.
The new policy states that tenants are required to seek written permission before taking ownership of a pet. However, permission for certain animals, such as birds and fish kept in small quantities, may not be required. This will depend on the type of property.
We will not normally give permission for you to keep:
- Any animal listed under the Dangerous Wild Animals Act
- Any animal listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act
- Farm animals
- Any type of bird of prey
Housing staff will take into account your personal circumstances including whether you have a disability, the type of property live in, and the existing number of pets within the household, any history of pet related problems and the impact on neighbours.
Where there is a communal entrance to the scheme, standards for keeping pets will be discussed and agreed in consultation with all residents on a scheme by scheme basis.
Tenants seeking permission for a pet can expect a decision within 28 days of their application.
