New Progress obtains ASBI against nusiance tenant

08 December 2011 - New Progress Housing Association has successfully secured an Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction against Preston man, John Brennan, who has persistently caused trouble to tenants within its properties.

New Progress Housing Association has successfully secured an Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction against Preston man, John Brennan, who has persistently caused trouble to tenants within its properties.

The injunction was awarded to New Progress Housing Association after they received several complaints from residents that Brennan had been threatening serious acts of violence and causing criminal damage to property.

The Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction placed on Mr Brennan includes an exclusion order with a power of arrest that prevents him from entering a majority of the Kingsfold estate in Penwortham and will remain in force until 15th May 2013.

If Mr Brennan enters the exclusion zone, or is the cause of anti social behaviour on the estate during this time he could receive a prison sentence for up to two years.

District Judge Michael Turner followed concluded the hearing by saying: “This Anti Social Behaviour Injunction should give the residents the comfort they need.”

Bernie Keenan, Managing Director at New Progress Housing Association, said: “We offer support to all perpatrators of anti-social behaviour to help them change their ways. In this case Mr Brennan refused to work with us and his behaviour did not improve so we had no option but to take legal action in order to protect the residents of Kingsfold.

We will continue to work with partner agencies such as the neighbourhood policing teams in striving to make our estates safe places to live.”
