Official opening for new supported living scheme in Lytham St Annes

30 March 2011 - A new supported living scheme in St Annes for adults with learning disabilities was officially opened on Friday 25th March.

A new supported living scheme in St Annes for adults with learning disabilities was officially opened on Friday 25th March.

New Fylde Housing and The Ormerod Group joined residents, their families, the Mayor of St Annes and other VIPs to celebrate the event at Nateby House, Lytham St Annes with Fylde MP and Ormerod Patron Mark Menzies officially opening the scheme.

Nateby House is a new supported living scheme for adults with a learning disability in Lytham St Annes. The property has been developed by New Fylde Housing in partnership with The Ormerod Group, Homes and Communities Agency and Fylde Borough Council.

Nateby House is in the heart of the newly re-developed Heyhouses Estate and consists of five bedrooms and onsite staff accommodation. It is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Eric Tamanis, Managing Director of New Fylde Housing, said: “We are delighted to be working once again with The Ormerod Group, providing much needed accommodation which enables people with support needs to live in the wider community.”

Sue Sharples, Chief Executive of The Ormerod Group: “Nateby House is a comfortable, safe and attractive home environment for people with a learning disability to live there independently. It is a great step forward that people with learning disabilities are able to live supported but independent lives. It will make a huge difference to them and their families. I hope the new residents will be warmly welcomed into the local community.”

Mark Menzies, Fylde MP, said:“As patron of The Ormerod Group I was absolutely delighted to be asked to officially open Nateby House.

“This fantastic project is a credit to both New Fylde Housing and Ormerod and will provide a fantastic home for some very deserving young people on a tremendous new estate.

“Ormerod are always on the lookout for help and I would encourage anyone to visit them and see firsthand the tremendous work they do for our community.

“I’m sure it will inspire people to want to get involved.”

The newly redeveloped Heyhouses Estate in Lytham St Annes is the first new build development in the Fylde area built to high standards of sustainability. With low carbon emissions and significantly reduced energy costs for residents, it meets the sustainable homes level 4 and sets the standard for housing in the borough.
