We work with Lancashire County Council to provide a free service for carers who may be concerned about who will look after the people they care for if something unexpectedly happens to them. This constant worry can cause stress and prevent carers from having a life of their own alongside their caring role. Lancashire County Council has developed a Peace of Mind 4 Carers service that provides cover for your caring responsibilities in the event of an emergency.
How does Peace of Mind 4 Carers work?
Someone from your local carers' centre will meet with you and the person you care for and put together a plan. The plan will be kept on a confidential database ready to be acted on 365 days a year, 24 hours per day.
There are many types of emergency that a carer may find themselves in, for example:
- Being stuck in traffic
- Being rushed into hospital
- Serious illness
You will be given a carer identification card and a key fob with an emergency number on it to let people such as police, ambulance etc know that you are a carer in the event of an emergency. The service is free of charge and available to all carers in Lancashire.
To apply for a Peace of Mind 4 Carers plan, contact your local carers' centre.
