How to connect the HP Thin Client Computer to the Internet

1. Plug in the grey Powerline Adapter into a wall socket which is nearest to your internet router. Make sure the adapter is not plugged into an extension cable.

2. Connect one end of your network cable into the back of your internet router, and the other end into either of the other Powerline Adapter.

3. Plug in the white coloured Powerline adapter into another empty wall socket near to the grey Powerline adapter. Once the two Powerline adapters are paired together you can move the white coloured adapter to a socket nearer to where you are going to be setting up the HP Thin client.

4. The next step is to ‘pair’ both the Powerline adapters.  When both Powerline adapters are plugged in and on, firstly press the ‘Pair Button’ for one second on the grey plug (as in the diagram below). Secondly, within two minutes press the ‘Pair Button’ for one second on the white plug (the small button is located underneath the plug next to the three network sockets)

5. The two Powerline Adapter Plugs should now be ‘paired’.

6. You can unplug the white coloured Powerline adapter and plug it into a mains socket nearer to where you are going to plug in the HP Thin client computer.

7. Plug one end of the second network cable into any of the three network connectors underneath the white coloured Powerline Adapter. Plug in the other end of the network cable into the network socket on the back of the HP Thin Client computer.

Appendix A: Troubleshooting

The Troubleshooting provides answers to common problems regarding the Powerline Adapter.

  1. The Power LED does not light up.

Ans. Check the following:

  1. Make sure that the Powerline Adapter is properly plugged into a power outlet.
  2. Make sure the power outlet is active (working) by plugging another electric device into it.

Re-plug the Powerline Adapter to the power outlet again. If the Power LED still fails to light up, contact your local dealer for technical support.

  1. The Ethernet LED does not light up.

Ans. Check the following:

  1. Make sure that the Ethernet cable (RJ45) is properly connected to the Powerline Adapter’s Ethernet port.
  2. Make sure that the other end of the Ethernet cable (RJ45) is properly connected to the computer LAN card or to you Cable/xDSL Ethernet port.
  3. Make sure your computer LAN card is properly installed and configured.
  4. Make sure your Cable/xDSL broadband access is working and configured correctly.
  5. Contact your local dealer for technical support if the Ethernet LED still fails to light up after the above procedures.

 

  1. The Powerline LED does not light up.

Ans. Check the following:

  1. Double click to enable the Management Utility and click the “Rescan” tab under the Network configuration homepage. The Management Utility will automatically detect all other Powerline Adapter on your power line network.
  2. Try to plug a second Powerline Adapter into a nearby power outlet and check whether the Powerline LED lights up or not.
  3. Contact your local dealer for technical support if the Powerline LED still fails to light up
