Get involved in your community
We understand how important a healthy and strong community is to the wellbeing of our tenants which is why we offer as much support as possible to improve community cohesion.
Community and Residents’ Associations
We support a number of community and residents’ associations in our neighbourhoods. They represent the wishes of the local communities and we back them with grants and other practical help.
Associations can look at more than just housing issues and can invite other local organisations to attend meetings. They can also bring the local community together and raise funds that can be put back into improving the local neighbourhood.
The aim of the Buckshaw Village Community Association (BVCA) is to resolve village issues and organise village events to improve neighbourhood cohesion.
The Broadfield Community Association use The Base in Leyland as their meeting place and to run a variety of activities that are open to all residents.
If you have any questions or want to get involved with the Broadfield Community Association then you are welcome to attend their next meeting. You can contact them on 01772 426005 or find out more by clicking here.
Community Development Workers
Our Community Development Workers engage with neighbourhoods to try and address some of the issues that face modern communities. They have developed good relationships with our tenants, local agencies and local groups and take a partnership approach to tackling issues which makes sure that all affected parties are happy.
Funded by our Community Investment Fund, the workers currently run youth groups in Penwortham and Lower Lane and coordinate projects in our communities that aim to address anti-social behaviour and promote community empowerment. They help and support community capacity building training and are always looking for new ways of engaging with our tenants.
