To support National Dementia Awareness Week which runs from Sunday 15 May to Saturday 21 May we are hosting a number of events and activities to raise awareness of dementia, increase understanding and to raise some money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Tuesday 17 May - a trip to the Museum of Liverpool where they have a ‘Memory Walk’; this is a guided tour of the memory provoking areas of the museum. Liverpool Museum has become a centre for Dementia training and awareness. The tour is for one hour from 11.30am, after the trip you can wander around the docks or go shopping until it is time for the bus to depart for home - £2.50 minimum donation

Wednesday 18 May, 2pm – Ashwood Court in Longton is hosting a session where you can spend 45 minutes learning about dementia and what causes it and then become a Dementia Friend. This will be followed by afternoon tea and a sing along of all the favourites – singing and music have been proved to improve mental health and ease anxiety in everyone not just those with Dementia - £3 minimum donation

Thursday 19 May, 10am – Morning coffee, cake & toasted teacakes will be served for a £1.00 minimum donation at Martinfield Centre in Penwortham during the morning there will be a 45 minute Dementia Friends session, where you will have the chance to win prizes and become a dementia friend

Thursday afternoon, 1.30pm - this will be spent at Tuson House in Penwortham. Join us for a brew and a Dementia friend’s session. After you are all badged up there will be refreshments and a mosaic crafting session. Crafting is good for the mind and body, helping to focus the mind, relieve anxiety and learn something new - £2 minimum donation

Friday 20 May, 11am – We are off to the seaside – the location for the dementia friends session today is at St Johns Court in Lytham. Starting at 11am there will be the Dementia Friends session; you can learn the basics about dementia and get an insight into the disease. A light lunch of sandwiches, nibbles and cakes will be serves after with time to chat and reminisce - £1.50 minimum donation
