Free Community Training Courses for Tenants
Free Community Training Events from Progress
Progress Housing Group’s Community Involvement and Progress Futures teams are once again joining forces with Lancashire Adult Learning to provide free community training courses for their tenants this autumn.
The courses, aimed at improving employment prospects, health and well-being and ICT skills, start in October and cover a whole host of opportunities - from Level 2 Food Safety, Customer Service and Eat Well for Health.
Jacky Howcutt, manager of Progress Futures, said: “Progress Futures aims to ensure that Progress Housing Group tenants can access all the help and support they need to be successful in what is an increasingly competitive employment market. It gives people a helping hand to build on their skills and education and provide a springboard into a new career.
“We ran some of these courses earlier this summer and they have been very useful, not only for those hoping to improve their job prospects, but also those who are part of a community group and would like to improve their skills.”
For instance, Kelly Prickett took part in one of the Paediatric First Aid courses and is already appreciating the future benefits. She said; “I’ve got 4 children, so you never know when these skills will be handy. A few years ago one of my children started choking on a grape, so to learn how to deal with this sort of thing, and lots of others, is really great.”
These training courses have been made possible through funding awarded to Progress Housing Group from Procurement for Housing (PfH), B&Q’s social fund, and they will be delivered from Progress Housing Group’s community centres in Leyland (The Base and The Place), Freckleton (Lower Lane) and Lytham St Annes (Saltcotes) and are open to all residents and customers.
Refreshments will be provided at each session and, if required, transport costs can be arranged.
