In order to celebrate Global Wellness Day Wellness day on 10 June, at Progress Housing Group we are challenging staff to take part in a series of events and challenges to promote healthy living and wellbeing...and we want you to get involved!

The purpose of Global Wellness Day is to ask the question; ‘How can I live a healthier and better life?’

Walking is one of those things people often take for granted. A common misconception is that a physically active lifestyle requires uncanny or extreme dedication and sacrifices. Simple things like walking can greatly contribute to your overall physical well-being.

Walking is free and one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier.

Walking may actually enable you to lose weight, strengthen your immune system, relieve stress and add some years to your life. Regular walking has been shown to reduce the risk of chronic illnesses, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, asthma, stroke and some cancers.

We are asking you to put your best foot forward and join us on Wednesday 14 June at 12.30pm, as we discover Penwortham’s hidden histories by walking Penwortham’s Heritage Trail. Ron Christopher, tenant of Progress Housing Group, will be our guide and will lead the way!

The walk is approximately two miles and should take no longer than an hour.

If you would like to join us, we will be meeting at Tuson House, off Kingsfold Drive, Penwortham at 12.30pm. Please bring sensible footwear!
