Christmas Wish Tree Appeal: supporting women and children in our refuges this Christmas
Join us in helping to make Christmas a little better for those staying in our refuges this winter by supporting our 2020 Christmas Wish Tree Appeal.
For women and children escaping domestic abuse, the thought of not being at home this Christmas can be distressing. Many have fled to our services with little more than the clothes on their backs, and Christmas presents are often seen as a luxury they cannot afford.
Our Wish Tree Appeal is a little different this year. Rather than dropping off your gift under one of our wish trees, we ask you to buy a present via our online gift list. Your donation can be as big or as little as you want, from a colouring book for a young child, some warm slippers for one of the women staying with us, to a board game, or a supermarket voucher for a family to buy food with.
Help us to help others and put a smile on someone's face this Christmas.
Our refuges manager, Liz Stanton, said. "This will be the 19th year that we've run our Wish Tree Appeal to ensure that every woman and child in our services receives a present at Christmas. These gifts are cherished by the women and children who receive them.
"But this year, we need your help more than ever to ensure we can provide gifts to the women and children we will be supporting over Christmas.
"Due to the impact of COVID-19, we've had to move our appeal online this year, and I'd like to encourage anyone who is able to visit our online wishlist and purchase a voucher or a gift for one of our women, children, or young people who are victims of domestic abuse and homelessness and staying in our refuges. Your help really does make a huge difference.
"Once again, from all the team at Clare House, South Ribble, and Chorley Refuges, thank you for your generosity and support."
Alternatively, you can buy a digital gift card from Morrisons supermarket so a family can buy food or much-needed essentials. Please send digital gift cards to firstname.lastname@example.org
If you, or someone you know, are a victim of domestic abuse or violence and require emergency safe accommodation and specialist support, you can call the 24-hour South Ribble and Chorley domestic abuse helpline for free, confidential advice on 01772 435865.
How to Buy From an Amazon Wishlist
Below is a simple (we hope!) step by step guide on buying a gift from an Amazon wishlist.
When you buy from one of our wishlists, the gifts are sent directly to the person we are helping. If you'd prefer to donate vouchers or money, please choose the address: Clare House, PO box 203, PR25 4WW
(NB: This guide assumes you already have an Amazon account. If you don't, you will need to set up an account with Amazon, which you can do here).
Step 1. Choose a gift from the list and click 'Add to Basket.'
2. When you have finished adding the items you wish to buy to your basket, click 'Proceed to Checkout.'
3. You will now be on the checkout screen, which asks you where you want the gift delivered. Please choose the 'Gift Registry Address' and then click on the 'Use this address' button and select Sumner House.
4. You now can add a note for the person you are sending the gift to - it will be printed on the packing slip free of charge. After you have chosen your gift options, click 'Save gift options, and continue.'
5. Now, just choose your payment method and finish checking out, as you would with any other Amazon purchase!
Thank you so much for your donation! If you have any issues with your Amazon account, please contact Amazon directly.
