New affordable homes in Clitheroe
Progress Housing Group completes handover of affordable homes in Clitheroe
On 12 October, Progress Housing Group completed the handover of five affordable homes located off Chatburn Road in Clitheroe.
The five affordable homes (three two-bedroom affordable rent properties and two three-bedroom shared ownership homes) are part of a section 106 agreement, as part of which the homes will be offered to people with a local connection to the area.
The homes form part of a larger 30-unit market-sale scheme developed by established local housing developer Oakmere Homes. This is the second site the Group has worked on with Oakmere Homes, the first being the Strawberry Fields development in Kendal.
The properties acquired by the Group contribute to the 88 affordable homes set to be built per year as part of The Ribble Valley Borough Council Strategic Housing and Economic Needs Assessment. The agreement demonstrates the need for 280 dwellings to be developed in the Ribble Valley per annum. A mix of tenures, including affordable rent and shared ownership, will be offered.
Speaking of the handover at Chatburn Road in Clitheroe, Director of Development at Progress Housing Group, Dan Griffiths, said: “This is the second time we’ve partnered with Oakmere Homes, who we are delighted to be working with again.
“The Ribble Valley is a priority area for the Group, and we are extremely pleased to be able to offer more affordable housing options to people who meet the local connection criteria and want to stay living in, and contributing to, their local area.”
The high-quality build, which includes eco-friendly additions like roof solar panels, and the scheme’s popular semi-rural location in Clitheroe, means that we are anticipating a high demand for the affordable rent properties, with both of the shared ownership houses already reserved.”
