Shining a spotlight on our rural developments in Inskip for Rural Housing Week

Inskip Rural Housing Week 600x 400

Progress Housing Group is working with Create Homes to deliver much-needed affordable housing in Inskip. Last year we delivered five houses for affordable rent at Ash Meadow, whilst this autumn, we will deliver a further 17 houses just across the road at St Petersfeld's. These further houses are a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership.

The properties on both sites are built alongside outright sale properties developed by Create Homes. The development will create additional communities in the village in Wyre, supporting existing infrastructure, with local lettings policies in place to ensure those with local connections have the best opportunity to access the new provision.

The work to engage with the local community has included a site visit by year 6 pupils from nearby St Peter’s Primary School as part of ‘Child Safety Week’ giving them a tour of a construction site, talking about the risks and how to behave safely.

Create Homes have also supported Young Inskip People, an organisation that assists and educates local residents from 7 through to 20 years old with regard to art, culture, heritage, science and amateur sport.

Gardening contractor, Wilkinson’s Landscapers of Hothersall, have also supported the village in their annual application and submission to Britain in Bloom, the UK’s longest running garden competition. The village has been successful in winning regional prizes in the past so this support meant a lot to the local community.

The site fits well within the existing village, with work on the development also proressing well; the affordable rent units have received significant demand and Create Home’s outright sale units are selling well. The shared ownership units will be released to the market in autumn, with soft marketing already underway.

Rural housing week runs from 6-10 July 2020. Progress Housing Group's Director of Development, Dan Griffiths, has written a blog for Rural Housing Week which you can read on our website here.
