Tackling and ending stigma survey

You can help tackle the problem of stigma against social housing and its tenants by completing a quick survey which will help  develop a toolkit for the housing sector.

A message from the Chartered Institute of Housing and See the Person campaign.

CIH is working with the See the Person campaign leadership group to tackle the problem of stigma against social housing and the people who live in it.

In surveying large numbers of tenants living in council and housing association homes, See the Person has revealed how sometimes, housing organisations, their staff and contractors can reinforce or contribute to the perception and experience of stigma (see the summary paper).

The experiences recounted to See the Person revealed that this can happen because of some housing management practices (for example; making an assumption that tenants will not be at work, but will be in during the day for repairs) as well as through individual staff’s behaviours or language.

We want to know what you think.

By completing this short survey, you will help us to understand what housing organisations and/ or their staff and contractors do which you think creates or reinforces stigma against people living in social housing. We also want to know how this could change for the better.

Please take part and help CIH and See the Person ensure that housing professionals / housing organisations can be part of the solution and not continue the problem of stigma.

The closing date for completing the survey is 30 June 2020. You can access the survey via this link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/66DB2NR.
