Soup Dragon helps community projects with funding
Last November saw some horrendous weather, but this didn't deter some fabulous voluntary and community sector groups from attending Progress Housing Group's Soup Dragon's Den!
The Soup Dragon's Den is Progress Housing Group's 'Dragon's Den'-style funding event which distributes our Community Investment Fund to voluntary and community groups, individuals and charities across the areas in which we operate, for the benefit of our communities.
The first round of the Soup Dragon's Den took place in May 2019 with £1,930 awarded to five community groups, and the second round was agreed to take place later that year.
November's Soup Dragon's Den event was well-attended by tenants and supporters of the organisations that were pitching for funding, with everyone enjoying homemade soup and crusty bread followed by fruit crumble and custard.
Three local community-based projects presented fantastic pitches for funding. The voting could not have been closer with two pitches receiving precisely the same number of votes, with the third pitch being only three votes behind.
The joint winners were The Base Community Café and the UkeLeylanders, with third place Lytham Tae Kwon-Do also being awarded part-funding by Progress Housing Group.
On the night a total of £2,300 was awarded to these groups.
Progress Housing Group's Soup Dragon will be visiting again soon, so keep an eye out on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ProgressStreetTalk for further details.
