Our customers will now be able to use their computer or smartphone to receive British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation via the free online video interpreting service, SignLive.

To use this service, customers simply need to register on the SignLive website www.signlive.co.uk and either download an app or access it via the internet.

Once registered, customers can search and look for Progress Housing Group or Progress Lifeline in the online community directory. By clicking on the phone number they would like to call, they will be connected to an interpreter who will support them throughout the call using BSL via a live video link.

Our employees can also use the service to call a customer by phoning the customer's unique extension number.

Joanne Bushell, Head of Progress Lifeline said: Progress Lifeline is now using SignLive to give our Deaf customers instant access to our services, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The video call function couldn't be easier to use and is a perfect way for our frontline staff such as Progress Lifeline Installers and Emergency Home Responders to communicate with our customers."

Karen Cookson, Customer Contact Manager, added: "We hope that using this new service will make it easier for British Sign Language users to contact us; particularly at the moment when face-to-face appointments are limited, and deaf or hearing impaired customers may not be able to have the support they usually use from family or friends."

Please note that we are still using LanguageLine. SignLive is a more interactive service, so more efficient when communicating with our Deaf or hearing-impaired customers.
