Welcoming our new Property Services apprentices
Towards the end of last year, we created three new apprenticeship opportunities within our Property Services Team.
We focused on recruiting young people living within our homes and communities and were blown away with the response - receiving over 200 applications!
We were really keen to give opportunities to people living within our homes and communities who were hardworking, customer-focused, willing to learn, and committed to always working to the best of their abilities, and we are delighted with our successful applicants.
The three successful apprentices joined the Group at the end of last year. They have been spending time ‘on the job’ learning from experienced and skilled trade operatives while also studying for a trade qualification - a great opportunity to earn while they learn.
We’d like to introduce you to our new apprentices as they start their careers with our Property Services Team here at Progress Housing Group. Having joined the team in December (not even a pandemic could hold them back!), they’ve settled in so well and have created ‘work bubbles’ to allow them to continue to learn from their ‘expert’ and to work in a Covid-safe way.
Here’s what they had to say about their journey so far…
Liam (pictured right)
Before joining Progress Housing Group, Liam had been studying plumbing at college. Prior to that, Liam worked as a general assistant at a garden centre. On joining the Property Services Team, Liam said: “I’m looking forward to expanding my practical knowledge and learning new skills in plumbing and heating and becoming fully qualified.”
Leo (pictured in the middle)
Leo has worked as a paperboy and is a qualified referee for grassroots football. On being offered an apprenticeship within Property Services, Leo said: “I am looking forward to learning the joinery trade and will hopefully have a long career as a fully qualified joiner.”
Callum (pictured left)
Callum used to have a part-time job in a pub before joining the Property Services Team. Callum lives in a Progress Housing Group property and is delighted to have the opportunity to influence the services provided to our customers. Callum had this to say about his apprenticeship “I am now working with qualified joiners, learning a lot and having a good time.”
