Santa’s little elves have been spreading festive cheer to families across Leyland as part of our volunteering commitment.

A team of colleagues from various departments, including health and safety, finance, and HR, plus two Project SEARCH interns, joined Sam from our Progress Involvement team in delivering food parcels to nine schools in the area.

Volunteers from the Leyland food bank at St Mary’s Community Centre had packed up the boxes, so they were all ready to be loaded into the van and delivered to the schools.

It was so heart-warming to see the surprised and delighted faces of the school staff as they counted up the many boxes of food. Everyone was so appreciative of the donations, and they expressed how much of a difference it will make to families who are struggling this Christmas.

Headteacher of St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School Louise O’Mahony said: “We would like to thank everybody that has been involved in donating and distributing these gifts because they will make such a huge difference to some of our families. It will enable them to have a much happier Christmas.”

Project SEARCH intern Bradley tells us why he enjoyed volunteering for the morning: “I really appreciate being able to take part and volunteer. It was brilliant to help out at the foodbank and go to schools giving them the food to help them this winter.”

Thank you to everyone who donated items to the Leyland food bank. Your generosity will make a huge difference to struggling families in Leyland.

  • The Leyland food bank at St Mary’s Community Centre is run by Churches Together and is open Monday to Thursday, 10am until noon.
