Independent Living tenants have helped to make sure children get an extra present this year by holding a toy collection.

Tenants from Tuson House, Ashwood Court, Old Mill Court, Orchard Grange, and Lowerfield, have all donated toys which were collected by The JJ Effect CIC. Toys were also donated by local residents in the area who had heard about the scheme.

Byron Highton, who runs The JJ Effect CIC, will distribute the toys to children and families who may otherwise not receive anything this Christmas.

Joan, Independent Living Co-ordinator at Tuson House, said: “I am really passionate about Bryon’s work with The JJ Effect CIC and really wanted to help. I got my Central West Independent Living co-ordinator colleagues Suzanna and Andrea involved and they donated lots of toys and encouraged tenants from other schemes to donate.”

Linda is one of the tenants who donated a gift. She said: “When I heard that there was this collection for children who would otherwise get nothing, it made me cry, so I knew I had to help. It has been a nice surprise at how many people have donated.”

Byron, who runs The JJ Effect CIC, said: “I am over the top impressed at how much has been donated. I was struggling for things to give younger children, but this donation means I have something for them. We can’t thank everyone enough.”
