In celebration of the excellent fundraising of some of our tenants, here is a round up of what they have been up to:
Knitting for charity

Wendy from Lostock Court, an independent living scheme in Lostock Hall, contacted Danni

Shaw, our Progress Activities Co-ordinator, to ask if any tenants would like to knit some squares for her.

Wendy would then knit them together to make blankets for people who were homeless.

Many of our tenants, including some in Fylde, have knitted Wendy lots of squares and kept her very busy.

Wendy has now handed over the blankets to Janet, one of the charity’s trustees, at Help the Homeless in Chorley; they were ever so grateful.

Wendy has also been busy knitting a baby blanket which was donated to Sue Wade at Tippy Toes.

Tippy Toes were the first winners of our Soup Dragon’s Den, and Wendy wanted the blanket to go to them.

Fundraising for Breast Cancer Now

Together with fellow neighbours Melita, Jeanette, Antonietta and Christine, Wilma at Old Mill Court independent living scheme organised a Wear it Pink fundraising event for Breast Cancer Now.

Many other tenants at Old Mill Court also supported the coffee and cake morning by providing homemade cakes and donating raffle prizes, as well as spending money at the event.

There was also a special guest appearance from Lancashire County Councillor Mr Graham Gooch.

The event was an amazing success, with £160.02 raised, which our Charity Fund will match.

So, if you are doing any fundraising events and activities, please don’t forget to apply to the Charity Fund. The application form can be found on our website, www.progressgroup.org.uk/charityfund

Fundraising for a defibrillator

Tenants at Lowerfield independent living scheme in Farington Moss have been busy raising over £1,000, with all the proceeds being used to buy a defibrillator for Lowerfield community centre.

They have raised the money by organising a tenant’s sponsored head shave and various craft and cake stalls and are thrilled about being able to apply for match funding through the Charity Fund.
