Lynne's marathon walking challenge for Samaritans
Lynne is always up for a challenge and walking the equivalent of a marathon for a month is no exception.
The 67-year-old from Leyland walked 26.2 miles over the course of 31 days to raise money for The Samaritans.
Thanks to the support of her family and friends and fellow tenants at Lowerfield, she raised £80.
We were so impressed with her dedication that we match funded her total, to help her reach £160.
Lynne, who is a former care assistant, said: “The charity is personal to me as it has supported my family through mental health problems. I think it is a really good charity and I know how hard it is for some people with mental health issues.
“The challenge has been okay. I have been walking every day, on my own, going to the supermarket and down to the village. I enjoy walking as it is good for my wellbeing.”
This is not Lynne’s first fundraiser, as she has supported various charities through her lifetime and she recently joined the Big Sponsored Sleep Out for our charity Key Unlocking Futures.
She said: “I have done a lot of charity events. I recently attended the Big Sponsored Sleep Out for Key Unlocking Futures. I enjoy doing things for charity and I am pleased with how much support I have had. I am grateful to Progress Housing Group for match funding what I have raised.”
