Spreading joy at our family fun day
Cheeky goats, wandering tortoises, ice cream, and giant snakes (and ladders) all made for a perfect family fun day at Penwortham Community Centre.
Our Central West Team organised the event in Kingsfold, in conjunction with Penwortham Town Council, and it was a huge success.
The star attraction was the petting zoo, provided by Pet Pets, where children lined up to hold rabbits, and stroke ducklings, iguanas, rats, goats, and sheep. There was even a tortoise let loose on the grass.
Other highlights included the police car and fire engine, as children sat in the front and posed for photos, and messy play with Little Learners Southport.
There was also free ice cream from Robinson’s.
Nicola Evans, Area Housing Manager, who organised the event, said: “We were thrilled with how well the event went. We want to thank everyone who provided entertainment and supported us throughout the day, and of course Penwortham Town Council.
"Everyone had a fantastic time and from the feedback we got, everyone was saying that they were so surprised and thrilled that it was completely free.
“It meant so much for us to provide free activities and show our support for our tenants and the wider community, especially during the summer holidays.”
Feedback from the day included: “Great to see a community event that was fun.”
“Good to see a community coming together.”
“It was useful to get to meet the team and also a chance to discuss issues in the area.”
One of our tenants, Martin, told us: “It’s been a good event. It is a nice change for families and children. It is good to see Progress Housing Group doing something for the community.”
