Tenant story | Andrew - my most memorable Pride
Our tenant, Andrew, shares his most memorable Pride - supporting Pear Tree Special School for children and young people in Kirkham by providing a fun Zumba session with a 'party atmosphere'!
"My most memorable Pride story is actually quite recent.
"Although I have taken part in numerous Pride events in recent years, including Blackpool Pride where I took part in a Zumba fitness display, more recently I was so proud (in my role as a community volunteer) to deliver my Zumba fitness class to children with severe and profound learning difficulties at Pear Tree school in Kirkham. I was invited in as part of the school's MADD (Music, Art, Drama and Dance) week in celebration of diversity - and Pride Month.
"When I was at school, it was football and rugby for the boys and netball and hockey for the girls. So to have Zumba dance fitness classes for all, especially when the school has focused the week on 'diversity, celebrating our differences and everything that makes us unique', during Pride month, is just amazing!
"A truly overwhelming Pride event for me, and my favourite gig."

A 'party atmosphere'!
We love hearing from our tenant, Andrew, who does some amazing work supporting his (and our) communities. In a letter sent from Pear Tree School to Andrew after his Zumba session, the school thanked him for creating such a 'party atmosphere' during the Zumba class, and said the children had a 'fantastic time'!
As part of the MADD event at Pear Tree School, Andrew's LGBT Friendship Group, Lytham Let Live, also donated funds to the school that will be used to 'create an outdoor learning environment which helps children regulate their sensory needs.'
