Tenants' Voice scrutiny update - October 2022
Customer promises, helping to reduce the stigma of social housing, and samosas were the talk of our latest Tenants’ Voice – Improving Services meeting.
First on the agenda was an overview of our Service Standards from 2021-22.
We have 17 service standards to meet, assessing criteria such as how we deal with complaints, aids and adaptations, income collection, anti-social behaviour, repairs and maintenance, value for money and tenant engagement.
Members looked at how we are performing now and how we can review those service standards. Our aim is to make the standards more relevant to our tenants, focusing on customer promises, highlighting what they can expect from us and their home.
The group welcomed the fact we continue to support the Stop Social Housing Stigma campaign. We are holding an online information session on 25 October to help raise awareness of the excellent work being done. This session is open to anyone who is interested in finding out more about the campaign. You can book a place using this Eventbrite link.
Another item on the agenda was our electrical testing process. Tenant satisfaction surveys after each test have now been set up following a recommendation from the group. We have also published more information on the process on our website for tenants to understand what to expect: Electrical safety in your home | Progress Housing Group (progressgroup.org.uk)
Members expressed how they were excited about attending our Cultural Celebration at Leyland Methodist Church on Saturday 29 October. They were looking forward to sampling the free food, but more importantly, celebrating the rich diversity of the community we live and work in. As the meeting closed, tenants’ Voice members discussed other areas they would like to review, with community safety deemed the next priority.
- The Tenants’ Voice group is made up of tenants who support us in improving services, by conducting in-depth reviews of specific service areas. They are always happy to welcome new members, so if you would like to join, call us on 03333 204555 or email community@progressgroup.org.uk.
