We are helping youngsters in Leyland enjoy fun activities, thanks to our Community Investment Fund.

Our Community Events Working Party, which consists of our board members, colleagues, and tenants, awarded Shape Lancashire £12,216 over three years from the Community Investment Fund.

Shape Lancashire’s youth club is based at The Place Community Centre, Royal Avenue, Leyland, where youngsters from the area can enjoy arts and crafts, games, and play on the Wii.

The club also organises a variety of activities, including multi-sports and games with a Preston North End sports coach; trampolining; water sports; go-karting; archery; and foot golf.

Mandy Foster, Director of Shape Lancashire, said: “We are delighted to receive funding from Progress Housing Group’s Community Investment Fund as this has enabled us to run a weekly term-time youth club for children from age eight upwards in the Wade Hall area.

"The youth club provides a safe place for children to enjoy activities, make friends, be themselves, and learn new skills.

"We have match funding from Children in Need to deliver holiday activities and targeted sessions, which means we are able to offer year-round activities for young people to take part in.”

Alan Greig, Progress Involvement Officer, said: “We are thrilled to be able to support Shape Lancashire and its youth club through the Community Investment Fund.

“The project is a good example of the Community Investment Fund providing opportunities to our communities to develop and grow through sports, health and wellbeing, arts and environmental projects.

“We wish them the best of luck in continuing these activities which are benefiting the local community.”
