As part of our You said, We did commitment to you, our Fylde West and Caretaking teams worked together to tidy up the ‘green wall’ in Howarth Road, St Annes.

The 'green wall’ was created to help the railings look more green and attractive, but when tenants mentioned the ivy was looking untidy, we inspected the area.

Carolyn Wilkinson, Fylde West Area Housing Officer, said: “We are always happy to welcome feedback from tenants, so when they asked us to improve the area in Howarth Road, we came out to inspect.

“We could see the ivy was slowly growing so we decided to revive it by tidying the area and completing prep work so we can add more suitable plants which will grow better. This also provided an opportunity for us to liaise with the business adjacent to the development to make future links to ensure their land is continually maintained.

“We will add more plants to the existing ones and in six months, the ‘green wall’ should be thriving and provide a better outlook for the residents.”

The team also carried out a litter pick and got rid of the weeds in a communal flower bed, replacing the soil and gravel with slates for a tidier look.

After all their hard work, it was nice to hear from tenants who said they appreciated what the team had done.

Bruce told us: "This is fantastic. The street looked untidy with rubbish everywhere, which is a shame because the houses are really nice.

"This is an amazing transformation, and makes me want to sit out and enjoy the sunshine.

"I think it will help bring the community together and is a massive improvement.  I could tell the difference as soon as I turned down the street.  It will make people want to keep the street tidy."
