Lower Lane Community Centre in Freckleton was full of glitter and glue as children made Father’s Day cards for their dads.

They also had fun designing personalised key and selected a special gift from a selection of items donated by local tenants, residents and Progress Housing Group colleagues.

As we helped the children wrap the presents, they enjoyed getting creative when decorating their bags and envelopes.

Iain Martin, Area Housing Manager for Fylde East, said: “We are always looking at ways to bring the community together at the centre and a craft session for Father’s Day seemed the ideal opportunity.

“The children enjoyed making cards and having a go at making keyrings. They were able to pick a present for their dad for a small donation, giving them a little bit of independence.

“Thank you to everyone to donated items – I am sure the dads will love their gifts.

“Thank you also to our Progress Involvement team who supported us on the day with craft items and snacks.”

One mum, Lyndsey said: “The Father’s Day craft session was a really good idea and my son really enjoyed making the key rings. He loves doing crafts. Whenever we receive posters about activities at the centre I always keep a note and I am looking forward to future events.”

Children also took away some sunflower seeds. You can find out more about our sunflower competition here: /get-involved/progress-in-bloom-summer-competitions/sunflower-competition/
