Our independent living tenants have been making the most of the build-up to Christmas with various festive activities.

  • Northeast Producers Travelling Theatre Company performed Annie at Lowerhouse and Charleston Court, and A Christmas Carol at Stanner Lodge.

Big thank you to the performers at Northeast Producers for their time and maintenance contractor, The Consortia Group for donating Christmas hampers to our independent living schemes in Fylde.

  • Tenants from various schemes across South Ribble and Fylde enjoyed a festive party at St Gerard’s Parochial Club in Lostock Hall. They enjoyed a three-course Christmas dinner and music from vocal duo Smith and West.

Fylde tenant Norman said: “I come every year with my wife – we look forward to it. We are grateful that Progress puts transport on. Otherwise, we would not be able to come.”

Betty told us: “I want to mix with other people, and this is a good way to do it. It is a lovely afternoon.”

Bridge Court tenants Linda and Sydney said: “We like the atmosphere and the food. We always enjoy it.”

  • Tenants at Bolton Croft raised £230 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation by holding a Christmas fair. Organiser Linda will apply for our Charity Fund to match this to £460. She said: “We have done this Christmas fair for the past three years. It all started with us wanting a hobby, so we started making craft items and thought we would hold a craft fair.

“I want to thank fellow tenants Barbara, Bernie, Alice, and Amy, as well as two other ladies from the local area, Kath and Carol, who ran the stalls. Gladys, who is 95, also did a fantastic job helping on the cake stall with Barbara.”

  • The Salvation Army brass band and a singer entertained tenants at Old Mill Court. They are also organising a party on New Year’s Eve.
  • Tenants from Ashwood Court, Croft Court, St John’s Court, Liggard Court, Lowerhouse, Jubilee Court, and Bashall Grove have been out for Christmas lunches.
  • We have held Christmas parties with singers, quizzes, and bingo at several of our independent living schemes, including Wrightsfold, Greenwood Court, Amounderness Court, Ancenis Court, Liggard Court, Bashall Grove, and Jubilee Court.

  • We arrange regular trips and activities for tenants within our independent living properties. These activities are open to all our tenants who are aged over 55 and provide opportunities for tenants to get together, develop friendships, visit interesting places, share previous life experiences and make new memories.
