Progress Housing Group apprentice receives tools of the trade thanks to builder’s merchant C&W Berry
A Progress Housing Group apprentice is getting hands-on experience with the help of a brand-new tool kit.
Adrian is an apprentice plumbing and heating engineer at Progress Housing Group and has been given new tools by Leyland-based builders’ merchants C&W Berry Ltd to help him build his new career.
Adrian, 19, is learning his trade by working on the job with qualified members of Progress Housing Group, whilst attending a three-year course at Preston College.
Adrian said: “I’m enjoying my apprenticeship so far; I can learn on the job and get real experience, which is important to me. Thank you to C&W Berry for my new tools and Progress Housing Group for this great opportunity.”
C&W Berry’s Managing Director, David Berry, said: “We’ve enjoyed working with Progress Housing Group for a long time and have seen lots of apprentices learn new skills. It has been a pleasure to watch them succeed, and C&W Berry are delighted to have played a part in their development.”
Progress Housing Group aims to keep providing apprenticeship opportunities and currently employs 11 apprentices who receive on-the-job training, as well as attending classroom-based learning with local colleges.
The group offers its tenants and customers a one-to-one mentoring service called Progress Futures to help customers who aspire to access training, education or employment. So far this service has supported over 2,000 people since it was set up in October 2013.
C&W Berry Ltd has been Progress Housing Group’s preferred supplier of repair and maintenance materials for over 13 years.
