We are always happy to support our communities and were thrilled to extend our social value work in Wade Hall.

Colleagues from our Planned Investment Team supplied and fitted a new oven in our community centre, The Place, located in Royal Avenue, Wade Hall.

The new double oven is used by members of Wade Hall Community Association, who run a back-to-basics cooking session on Wednesdays.

Joan Musker, chairperson of Wade Hall Community Association, says: “Our Wednesday group uses the kitchen for the back-to-basics sessions and it is so much better. The double oven gives us extra space, so our group can bake so much more. It makes such a difference. We love it.”

Andy Baldwin, Planned Investment Manager, says: “Our social value work is important to us and helps us make a difference to our local communities.

“The work involved two electricians, a joiner, a plasterer, a labourer and a gas engineer, who were all more than happy to get stuck in.”

Meanwhile, Leyland-based builders' merchants C & W Berry generously donated a shed to the centre to provide extra storage.

Joan adds: "The new shed has been a great help. Lots of different groups use the centre, and we were quickly running out of space.

"Thank you to Progress Housing Group and C & W Berry. It's great to see people working together to help us."

A spokesman from C & W Berry says: "C & W Berry is passionate about giving back to our local communities. We were delighted to be asked to help the local community groups by donating sheds to provide more storage and continue our excellent partnership working with Progress Housing Group."
