Tenants crochet and knit for Tippy Toes baby bank
Thank you to all our tenants who have been busy knitting and crocheting to support families with babies.
Our tenants have made blankets, baby hats, cardigans, gloves, and scarves to donate to Tippy Toes baby bank, which supports families in and around Lancashire.
We invited them to a thank you lunch at Tuson House in Penwortham, where volunteers Mary and Jade spoke about their work.
The tenants, who came from independent living schemes across South Ribble and Fylde, enjoyed speaking to Mary and Jade and felt proud to be helping families in need.
Independent living tenant Barry, who lives in Liggard Court, donated wool to show his support. He said: “It is a really good project, and I believe more people should do this.”
Stella, who also lives in Liggard Court, added: “I have been crocheting since I was five, as it was something to do during the war.
“I really enjoy crocheting, and it gets us out of our rooms. I crocheted four blankets as I wanted to help this good cause.”
Volunteer Tracey runs three craft groups at our South Hey, Liggard Court, and Croft Court independent living schemes.
She said: “Tenants enjoy the sessions. It gets them out of their flats and socialising again, which is really important.
“All our members donated and made blankets and babywear, and we will continue to support Tippy Toes.”
Mary, whose daughter Sue set up Tippy Toes four years ago, said: “Thank you so much for these. It is wonderful you have all put the time and effort into making all these. I am astonished at how beautifully made these items are.”
- Tippy Toes accepts donations of baby items to give to families in need in Lancashire. The project also donates items to countries in need overseas, such as Ukraine and Afghanistan. For more information on how to donate, visit Home - TippyToes Baby Bank
