Tenants were more than happy to show how much they love their community on Valentine's Day by helping out during our clean-up in Accrington.

Our Caretaking, Central East Area Housing and Community Involvement teams were there to do the heavy lifting, as they moved bulky furniture, picked up litter and gave the area a general tidy up.

Michelle, Central East Area Housing Officer, says: “We really enjoy the community clean-up days as it gives us a chance to speak to tenants and find out why they are passionate about keeping their area clean.

“It was great to see the tenants joining in and making good use of the skip. It was even better to see our more younger tenants help out and show great pride for where they live.”

Toni says: “We have a good community. Everyone helps out, especially when we have these community clean up days with the skip.

“I have never lived in a housing association property before where they have been so involved with the people that live in that area. Activities such as this get everyone talking. Everyone is so friendly and happy to say hello.”

Andrew says: “I am pleased Progress Housing Group is holding this community clean-up day as it is showing an interest in the residents and area. Progress is helping to provide us with the means to tidy the place up.”

  • Community clean-up days are based on estate walkabouts and tenant feedback.They provide an opportunity for tenants to show they love their communities and help make their areas better places to live.
