We loved meeting our tenant litter pickers as they helped to tidy up the Kingsfold area in Penwortham during our community clean up day.

Our Area Housing, Caretaker and Progress Involvement teams helped tenants get rid of bulky waste such as sofas, mattresses and boxes.

Members of Penwortham Town Council and Penwortham Food Bank also helped to clear large items away.

One of our tenants Paul is a volunteer litter picker with Penwortham Town Council. He said: “I have been volunteering as a litter picker for a year and I enjoy it. It gets me out and about and I like looking after my neighbourhood.

“I think it is good that Progress Housing Group hold these community clean up days and that we have regular litter picks. It is important for tenants and residents to get involved and make the area better.”

Shelbie brought her family to help out, with young Annabella litter picking.

Shelbie said: “I really appreciate everything Progress Housing Group does for us. My Area Housing Officer Elaine is brilliant and has really helped me. She goes above and beyond for people.  That’s why I wanted to come out to the community clean up and help.”

Annabella added: “I like to help out.”

Selina, Area Housing Manager for Central West, said: “It has been fantastic to see some of our tenants come out and help litter pick with us.

“We hold these community clean up days to help make the area nicer places to live.

“With the help of Penwortham Town Council we were also able to provide a big skip to help tenants and residents get rid of bulky waste. We strongly urge people not to dump their large items and fly tip in the area.”

If you need help getting rid of large items, South Ribble Borough Council can take them away for a fee. More information here: South Ribble Bulky Waste.
