Here is what we learnt from our Community Chats
Over the autumn months, our Area Housing Teams carried out a Community Chat in eight of our communities.
The teams asked tenants and residents what they liked about the area they live in, and what they would change if they could.
A total of 178 people took part in the Community Chats. The overall comments have been positive, with people telling us they liked the following about their community and the services we provide:
- Nice area
- Love my home
- Local amenities
- Good repairs service
- Helpful, friendly and supportive staff
- Friends and family
- Good community
- Quick and efficient services
- Green spaces
- Good location
- Compliance checks
- Long term tenancy
As with anything there is always improvements that can be made. This is what people told us they would like to see improved:
- Drug use
- Evict perpetrators
- More to do for children
- More frequent street sweep
- Improved gardening service
- Crime – Government support
- Poor repairs service
- Outstanding repairs
- Lack of outcomes
- Dog litter
- Improved bin management
- Neighbour issues
- Speeding cars – traffic calming
- Improved disability access
- Communication – next steps
- Increase and improved transport
- Increased police presence
- Increased parking provision
Our Area Housing Teams have looked closely at the comments made by tenants and residents in each area to put together a plan for improvement.
Some parts of the plans will involve working closely with other agencies to help make changes to our communities. We will be using these plans to tell tenants and residents about the changes we are making following the comments they made.
Peter Bond, Regional Housing Manager, said: "We would like to thank all residents who took the time to speak with colleagues.
"The feedback that we received has been really insightful and has given us a platform to focus our work in the coming months.
"A lot of the issues raised by residents require a multi-agency approach and we will be looking to build on the strong links that we already have with partners to secure tangible improvements for our communities.
"We are looking forward to catching up with residents during our next series of Community Chats, so please say hello if you see Progress Housing Group colleagues in your community."
