Progress Futures update | Summer 2025

Our Progress Futures Team shares an update on what has been happening over the past few months and what is to come: 

 

New courses

Are you interested in learning more about first aid, or food safety?  Or looking to expand your knowledge and skills in another area? 

The Progress Futures team is exploring options for training courses with Lancashire Adult Learning, and we are keen to hear from tenants who may be interested in these types of courses or similar.  

Please contact the Progress Futures team for further information, or to discuss the types of courses you are interested in.

 

Introduction to Business Admin and IT course 

Would you like to take part in a 10-day fully-funded course to learn about business and information technology to boost your business skills and increase your employability?

Training ProviderSkills People Group

What you will learn: Principles of personal performance and development; business communication and administration; how to work in a business environment; how to produce business documents; how to store and retrieve information; how to use digital devices online responsibly; health and safety.

You will also receive a free digital device upon completion of the course.

Start date: Monday 16 June 2025 – Friday 27 June 2025

Times: Monday to Friday (for two weeks) from 9am to 3.30pm

Location: The Place Community Centre, Royal Avenue, Leyland, PR25 1BX

Eligibility: Age 19 and over, unemployed, British/ EU Citizen or UK resident for three years or more

Apprenticeships 

We are excited to announce that our Apprenticeship Programme for 2025 is now open! 

We're starting by sharing 12 trades apprenticeships within our Property Services teams - 12 brilliant opportunities to gain hands-on, practical skills, experience, and grow your career while learning from our highly-skilled, friendly and professional teams.

Unlocking Success Bursary – Northern Housing Consortium

We are working with The Northern Housing Consortium's Unlocking Success Bursary Scheme to help tenants apply for funding to help develop their learning and skills to support future employment opportunities.

The fund of up to £500 can help with anything from laptops and equipment to childcare and travel costs.

To be eligible to apply to the bursary, you must meet the following criteria:

  • be over 16 years of age,
  • live in a social housing,
  • and be applying for the bursary to enhance your skills to further your development.  

The closing date is 30 June.

Job Clubs

Progress Futures job clubs are held on a regular basis, are free to attend and open to all members of the community.  

We offer access to laptops, Wi-Fi, tea, coffee and support from the team should you need it. 

 

  •          Fortnightly Mondays – 1am – 12pm – South Hey Community Centre, South Hey, Ansdell, Lytham St Annes, FY8 4BD.
  • Wednesdays - 10am to 12pm – The Family Hub and The Zone, West Paddock, Leyland, PR25 1HR
  • Thursdays - 10am to 12pm - The Base on Broadfield II Community Centre, Bannister Drive, Leyland, PR25 2GD
  • Fortnightly Fridays - 9.30am to 11.30am (1st & 3rd Friday – starting 7 February) - Christian Community Larder, St Aidan’s Community Hub, Station Road, Bamber Bridge, PR5 6QR
  • Last Friday of every month - 10am to 12pm - Kirkham Family Hub and The Zone, Chapel Walks, Kirkham, PR4 2TA
