Summer fun in our communities

We have been out in our communities over the summer holidays, offering tenant support and providing fun family activities.

Our community hub events in our Great Harwood and Fylde areas were a great way to listen to our tenants and gain valuable feedback about our services, their home, and their local area.

Here is what has been happening in our communities:

Great Harwood
3D Environmental Limited helped our tenants clear away some of their bulky waste.
Children had fun making bracelets, painting pebbles, and design their own windmill.
But the highlight of the day was ice cream, supplied by Soft Ices in Blackburn.

Here is what our tenants told us during the day:
Rebecca said: “It has been nice for the younger ones to be able to do something and meet other children in a safe environment. It is also good Progress is in the area trying to make things better. It gives us a chance to speak about things we are concerned about.”

Another tenant said: “It has been good to be able to discuss any issues in the area. I have appreciated the rubbish removal as it makes the street look better.”

Saltcotes
Mickey and Minnie joined us for an afternoon of fun on the green in Saltcotes Place.
Youngsters had a go at goal shooting with AFC Fylde Community Foundation’s inflatable goal.
We also had crafts, with bracelet making, and painting pebbles and fairy doors.
Stu’s Ices also came round, with ice creams for everyone.
iHOPE Fylde hosted its pre-loved pop-up shop, with household items and toys available to pick up for free.

Here is what our tenants said about the day:
Katie said: "It is nice the kids have somewhere to play and that we can all mingle."

Avril said: "It has been fun seeing Mickey and Minnie - not many children will have the opportunity to see them."

Jemma added: "It has been nice to get out and talk to people. It stops people getting lonely in their flats and it keeps the kids off the streets. It is good to have a family day."

•    Big thank you to community member Victoria for allowing us to have Mickey and Minnie for the afternoon.

St Annes
We joined forces with St Annes on the Sea Town Council to take part in its Fantasy Fayre at Ashton Gardens. Children had their faces painted, and enjoyed crafts. We were also on hand to discuss any tenancy-related issues and offer support.

Iain Martin, Regional Housing Manager of Progress Housing Group said: “We have enjoyed spending time in our communities this summer, supporting tenants and creating spaces for families to come together and have fun. These events have given us the chance not only to offer help and advice, but also to listen to what matters most to our tenants. We are grateful for all the feedback and conversations—your voices really do shape the way we support you and your neighbourhood.”
