Work starts on a new development in Preesall, Lancashire

Building work has started on a new development in Preesall which will provide 51 affordable homes for the local community in the Wyre area.

Property developer Breck has partnered with Progress Housing Group to build the two to four-bedroom houses and bungalows located on Rosemount Avenue. They are intended for affordable rent and shared ownership, and are due to be completed by September 2027.

In line with Progress Housing Group’s environmental sustainability strategy, every home will feature an air source heat pump for energy efficiency and an electric car charging point; the first time that Progress Housing Group has achieved this goal in a new development.

Daniel Griffiths, Director (Development) at Progress Housing Group said: “We are excited that this scheme will not only deliver high-quality affordable homes but that they will all be energy efficient too, reaping benefits for our tenants. We know that we will be meeting the needs of the community in Preesall, and we look forward to building houses that local people will be proud of.

“The scheme is supported by grant funding from Homes England and delivers against our housing strategy. What’s more, we are delighted to strengthen our existing relationship with Breck through this scheme, with more projects in the pipeline.”

Andy Garnett, director, Breck said: “The number of people of retirement age is growing across the UK, including in Wyre, which makes providing affordable housing suitable for older people increasingly important.

“Rosemount Avenue will create a high-quality new community that people at a range of different stages in their life can call home, with bungalows designed for older residents as well as homes for couples and families.”
