Summer youth activity at Lower Lane
We have worked in partnership with other organisations to provide youth activities for our Lower Lane community over the summer holidays.
Thanks to support from Fylde Borough Council, Juno Sport and AFC Fylde Community Foundation, we have been able to hold a series of activities at the community centre in Freckleton.
• AFC Fylde Community Foundation held a summer sports camp, covering Mondays in July and August. This included multi-sports in the MUGA (Multi-use Games Area).
This culminated in a family fun day, where youngsters made bracelets and painted pebbles.
We also brought the beach to tenants, as we had a fun and frenzied game of beach bingo in between spells of drizzle and rain.
This was funded by our Community Investment Fund.
• Juno Sport hosted its Summer Vibe Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme at Lower Lane Community Centre, covering Fridays in July and August.
Activities included: football, UV dodgeball, cricket, remote control cars, axe throwing, laser tag, arts and crafts, and Lego building.
This was an extension of Juno Sport’s after school club which had been taking place every Friday from March, and was funded by Fylde Borough Council.
Sam Beattie, Customer Voice Officer at Progress Housing Group, said: “These activities have offered a safe and engaging space where youngsters can explore new sports, develop creative skills, and build friendships. By collaborating with organisations like Juno Sport and AFC Fylde Community Foundation, we have been able to provide a variety of experiences—from football and arts and crafts to memorable family events—that encourage active lifestyles, personal growth, and a real sense of community for local families.”
